In July I attended the Sonic Arts Summer School at the Ionian University, Corfu. During this week of workshops I had the opportunity to work with Peter Batchelor (De Montfort University, Leicester), Corte Lippe (Buffalo University, New York) and Theodoros Lotis (Ionian University). I spent the week working in Max 7 building a sampler for live performance and also learning how these composers use Max to create wonderful tools for sound design (granular sampling), spatialisation and live interactive performance (using FFT for signal processing). We also spent some time working with ambisonic recordings in Reaper using ATK plugins.
This was a fantastic week spent listening, recording using ambisonics, creating sounds, problem solving, sharing creative ideas, going to concerts and performing. I would like to thank all the staff and students at the Ionian University for organising this fantastic event and also to Peter Batchelor and Cort Lippe who shared their creative and technical expertise with us.
